diesel fall winter 2009/2010 showcase part one

i was invited to the press viewing of the diesel fall winter 2009/2010 collection at their showroom in kings cross today! it was amazing, i was like a kid in a candy shop, there's so much to see! never thought i'll be a diesel kind of guy, but i was really pleasantly surprised. there were a few pieces that i definitely want to get. more to come in part two shortly!

here are some pics from the amazing showroom:
music plays a big part in this collection. "kind of blue" by miles davies, one of the greatest jazz recordings of all time was the particular track which fuelled their improvisation and modernity.

how cosmic, the PR rep recognised me as i was carrying my blue bill amberg bag!

totally whimsical! more to come in part two where i'll show you some of my picks from the stellar collection!

president obama's watch

if michelle obama did wonders for jason wu by wearing his dress to the inauguration ball, would president obama do the same for the little known watch maker by strapping on his favourite wrist watch? he has been seen on numerous occasions wearing the same wrist watch. i guess watches are sentimental to guys, we wear the same watch almost day in day out. it's a trust worthy piece of equipment that has followed our journey, and if it ain't broken we don't fix it.

the president's choice on these numerous occasions was jorg gray's 6500 chronograph.

if this is not the best poster image for the watch makers i don't know which will!

now us mere mortals can own a piece of history in the making too! the jorg gray 6500 chronograph retails for a surprisingly affordable US$325, and shipping to international destinations costs about US$35.

the president's watch bears a special logo which is exclusive to him and his employees.

us mere mortals can get the exact same watch but with a different logo on the front. bothered much? it is a quartz watch, but it is a commemorative edition and it comes with high-impact scratch resistant crystal watch face.

they've even got a website! http://barackswatch.com!

i find it rather interesting that the first lady favours little known or up and coming designers, and the president also favours a watch by a little known maker. america is indeed changing.

push a little further now, if you're perfect

i had the ultimate pleasure of trying on the above bag last weekend (ok not the exact bag, the one i tried was canvas with croc trim). it was an absolute delight, i was surprised at how light it was. pairing it with canvas/straw is a practical idea. the bag is perfect, just the right size, right color combination, right drop length, just perfect. the SA was kind enough to let me examine it closely, thank you. i never thought i'll say it, but the bag is really perfect.

the stunning weekender retails for a jaw dropping £4,700. i just hate myself a little for not working hard enough. one day, maybe one day.

now i don't know which is more delectable: the stunning tasseled loafers by gucci (I LOVE YOU FRIDA!!) or the sumptuous suede and leather weekend bag from dolce & gabbana?

magazines are so bad for your health. all scans from another man spring summer 2009.

"sometimes is never quite enough. if you're flawless, then you'll win my love. don't forget to win first place don't forget to keep that smile on your face. be a good boy try a little harder. you've got to measure up, and make me prouder. if you're perfect." ~ alanis morissette "perfect"

louis vuitton men's spring summer 2009 "outline" silk scarf

i've not been buying magazines for ages because i know there will be lots of nice products and temptation. but i faltered and in a moment of boredom i bought the latest spring summer 2009 issue of "another man" (anything for jefferson hack really).

so there were nice glossy ads all out in full force. oh dear quick flip the page...

and then you reach the section where they shamelessly hawk their wares at you, and you helplessly stare at them. oh what's that thing there?

hmm nice bags and shoes, but i am really liking that scarf. where's it from?

Ooo it's from vuitton. then i began my search online but i couldn't find any pics or information about it. so i decided to brave the rain and lugg the magazine to the sloane street store to enquire. that's the last piece they had!

needless to say i took it home! the 100% silk scarf is reversible and featured geometric stripes on both sides. ok the creases and folds are annoying me no end, am going to iron it soon. anyway here's the front...

and here's the back. i absolutely love it, i can layer up in the summer with a silk scarf and not feel bulky.

the official description is "echarpe outline gris clai", which in my loose french translation means "grey outline clearly" scarf. non?

and with my fall winter 2008 "plan" silk scarf. the "outline" scarf is actually much longer than the "plan", so it can be twilled around the neck. however the silk is not as flowy as the "plan", "outline" is actually stiffer, but i love it no less.

the scarf wasn't featured on the spring summer 2009 show, but the geometric print was used in the silk ties. here's model of the moment and louis vuitton spring summer 2009 campaign's posterboy tyler riggs sulking it with the geometric print tie.

i was also offered the silk tie, but it doesn't pack the punch like the scarf did. vertical stripes on ties are not flattering on 99% of mere mortals too. but i do love their effort to tie the ties to precision, showing 4 stripes on the knot for both looks!

i lvoe it!

yesterday in pictures (& a few words...)

went to the victoria & albert museum at 5pm. didn't realise it's closing at 5:30pm.

outside was pouring with heavy rain, jeans were slightly soaked.

stained my new sneakers. reminder not to wear indigo denims with your white sneakers, not when it's raining anyway.

reminder not to take your exotic leather bag out when it's raining. put a post it note on the page of the magazine to remind yourself of item you wanted to show the SA at vuitton.

and then buy it because it was the last piece they had.

i'm only happy when it rains.

inspired much?

the bellboy is now working at prada. zip case in black saffiano leather, US$195

louis vuitton coated canvas monogram groom key & change holder, US$225, released back in 2006, tipped to be reincarnated sometime this year (unless rumeurs were false and bellboy actually reborn at prada!).

saying that, i do quite fancy the croc embossed card case from prada, US$150.

or how about the real deal, ysl shiny croc leather card holder in the most delectable shade of midnight blue, US$495.

it must be love, love love.

balenciaga spring summer 2008 men's polo shirt

who knew the classic and sometimes stuffy polo shirt could be restyled into a look so fashion forward and desirable? from the balenciaga spring summer 2008 men's lookbook, the model layered 2 polo shirts, creating an interesting look around the collars.

the simple yet classic polo shirt is still available, and marked down to £98. not bad at all for a classic piece and featured "runway" look too.
balenciaga spring summer 2008 long sleeved polo shirt, £98. a similar short sleeved version for £88 is also available here.

i like a lot! i love balenciaga!

i KID you not
