louis vuitton for selfridges 100th birthday - custom made birthday cake trunk
selfridges, one of london's most iconic departmental stores, is turning 100 this may! to celebrate this amazing milestone, lots of designers are contributing specially designed items in selfridges signature yellow. louis vuitton is offering selfridges a custom made birthday cake trunk. yes, a custom made birthday cake trunk.
every detail was carefully considered and thought through, from the way the cake can be placed and lifted from the trunk, to where to place the dessert cutlery set, and to finer details of how the trunk lining should appear.

the trunk will be displayed at selfridges "wonder room" from 1st to 15th may. a special replica has also been created and will be auctioned, with entire proceeds donated to CLIC sargent, a london based charity benefiting children with cancer.
supporters will be able to bid for the special trunk online and by phone. the auction will open on friday 1st may and close on friday 15th may at midnight. to register your interest in bidding for the item, find out more here.
simply stunning.

more "matthew williamson for H&M" spring summer 2009 menswear collection
more pictures are trickling in from the "matthew williamson for H&M" menswear collection.
i really really really like want this blazer. it reminded me of the balenciaga fall winter 07 women's blazer.
a slightly givenchisque leather jacket. the belt is bothering me, lots.
le sigh, i am loving the seersucker blazer t00o00...
adrien brody in "matthew williamson for H&M" board shorts and patent leather sneakers
the men’s collection takes inspiration from williamson’s own wardrobe, mixing a dapper young gentleman’s style with hot colour and covetable ethnic influences. “i have aimed to incorporate a styling juxtaposition where global inspiration is fused with quintessential english style,” says williamson. seersucker blazers look their best when worn with cuban-style printed shirts, while denim comes in strong blue and vivid pink. tie-dye sweaters come in purple and pink, while a t-shirt comes with williamson’s signature peacock print. for the beach there are board shorts or little swim shorts, and pulling the whole look together is an accessory that is williamson’s personal signature - a large, crinkled scarf.
example prices:
seersucker blazer € 99/£69.99
cuban-style shirt € 29.90/£19.99
jeans € 49.90/£29.99
tie-dye sweater € 39.90/£29.99
board shorts € 29.90/£19.99
swim shorts € 24.90/£19.99
the collection is available from may 14th in selected H&M stores.

"matthew williamson for H&M" spring summer 2009 menswear collection
last week saw the release of the "matthew williamson for H&M" collection for the ladies, and it was mayhem at the stores. most of the key pieces were snapped up within minutes, despite limiting to 2 pieces per design per customer.
come may 14th, the men's collection will be available at selected H&M stores. here are a selection of items which i like, and hope i can get to the store in time to try them on! this also marks his first foray into menswear for matthew williamson.

we heart H&M!

christian louboutin for men

the very much fabled christian louboutin for men, in python skin no less. these belong to carlos sousa, my latest blog obsession.
to say i've just had a visual orgasm is a mild understatement.

"cameron" by hermès
here's an article sent in by one of the readers a while back but it got buried under and i never got the chance to share it. the article was about cameron silver's (owner of the influential vintage couture store "decades inc") experience in getting a custom made bag from hermès, appropriately named "cameron". if i can be totally honest, i am not really feeling the bag, but the article was an interesting read, and provided an insight into the world of the privileged few.
considering an off the rack standard hermès birkin retails for about US$10,000 and upwards, his bespoke one of a kind "cameron" at US$11,000 doesn't sound exactly exorbitant (did i just say that?!). but i believe this service isn't available to any tom dick and harry, but reserved for their selected clientele.

prada men's autumn winter 2008 patent leather grey/black tote bag

ebay is a four letter word, and so is evil. look away now, there's a brand new prada men's patent leather grey/black tote bag as featured on the autumn winter 2008 runway show, available on ebay's "buy it now" for... US$550.
yes, brand new. US$550. oh be still my very heart...

oh someone get it already. click here for listing and more pics. i think it's gorgeous, but it's too similar to my bottega veneta tote. the good thing is that this isn't a completely open top bag, there's a snap/stud closure on the top. hack, for this price and this being featured on the runway, just grab it and run like the tiger already.
& talking about tigers, i've joined the bandwagon. i might just be flooding the site with twitters and twatters. and the annoying thing is that someone choose "00o00" as their twitter username but not making any posts. tsk tsk cyber squatters.
p/s: is it the weekend already? le sigh...

i really don't know clouds at all
balenciaga men's sneakers spring summer 2006
i love all things balenciaga, and it excites me to find interesting items from the past. if i am noble enough i'll say it's being green to reuse, but it is about giving items a second chance. everyone deserves a second chance, and it is only with history and stories that people and items become interesting.
so currently on ebay there's a pair of pre-owned balenciaga men's sneakers retailing for US$155. the sneakers appeared to be in fantastic condition, and was featured on the spring summer 2006 lookbook. not sure if it is a good thing, but the pair on auction is size 9, my size!

i love it, and not exactly expensive either. and if i can be truthful, looking at the lookbooks from their archives, balenciaga doesn't do menswear like this anymore. the collections used to be romantic, there's flair and elegance to it. these days it seems to be all rocker dood inspired and picks up on where hedi slimane left off with dior homme.
and it's sad, as i've not bought anything from balenciaga menswear since spring 2008. as much as i love balenciaga and nicholas ghesquiere, i wish their menswear would move in a different direction.

out & about - 'gathering of the countrymen' edition

beautifully sunny day on saturday, went out & about to hampton court for a spot of well missed fares. dressed in my newly purchased diesel distressed denims (which my friend said it looked like it's from 10years ago, which i take that as a compliment to say it's been aged to perfection), balenciaga merino wool sweater, marc jacobs hand painted belt, raf simons cotton tote, paul smith cloth sneakers (which anon reader was rather annoyed i keep wearing the same shoe, but i can fly in these), smelling of ysl l'homme and listening to elbow's "one day like this".
beautiful day.
