mr hudson in gucci spring summer 2010

mr hudson has done it again. we rarely see guys being dressed in next season's collections. last month we saw mr hudson wore a nylon jacket from j.lindeberg spring summer 2010, on monday he attended the Q awards in gucci spring summer 2010 jacquard jacket, complete with the croc trimmed shoes! yes, next season's stuff that will only be in stores come jan/feb.

but mr hudson did the non-sartorial thing: he buttoned his lower button instead of the top, which is a no-no. always the top button, like pic below, and never button both together too.

a closer look at his grey slip-ons with what appeared to be lizard and croc trim. i am not overly crazy on his shoes, but i do like his jacket. complete next season outfit, blondes do have more fun.

scottish actor gerard butler was out and about with his mountain bike in new york yesterday. he was sported in a dolce & gabbana fall winter 2009 nylon padded jacket.

the nylon jacket has asymmetrical diamond shaped details, making it more biker-ish and masculine. the jacket is available online at luisa via roma. i like it, but feel it's very pricey at £922 for a nylon jacket.

love them or loathe them, irish boyband lads westlife has had fourteen number one hit singles in the UK, the third-highest total in UK chart history, only behind elvis presley and the beatles. after a year's hiatus, they returned to perform on last sunday's x-factor results show with their new single "what about now".

band member mark feehily wore one of my favourite military jackets from dolce & gabbana fall winter 2009. i even had a similar version on my wishlist on the right of the blog a few weeks back.

closer look at the jacket

the jacket had crested buttons on the front and it's lapels, and sports rather unusual brown trims on the cuffs and linings. military style never goes away, it's a classic really. wear this 2 years later and it wouldn't seem dated. and i really like what dolce & gabbana and d&g did this season with their military influences.

click here for westlife's performance on x-factor. i really like their new single, thought it was very uplifting. yea i like a bit of a cheese every now and then. people commented that they mimed, but it seemed pretty clear to me they were singing live.

the black eyed peas performed at las vegas last friday, and retreated to one of the nightclubs for their after party. band member taboo (gosh i must be old, what's wrong with names like john or david?) posed in his maison martin margiela fall winter 2008 nylon padded biker jacket, whilst will.i.am came in a matching leather jacket with rather interesting trousers.

the jacket was one of my favourite pieces from that collection. i contemplated long and hard about buying it, but decided that the red "M" is just too striking for me. that collection marked the 20th anniversary for martin margiela, and rumoured to be the last collection by the master himself. they should be naming a new head designer shortly.

the recent dull and grey weather in london reminded me of the scenes from above ad commissioned by british broadcaster ITV. director rupert sanders, who won this years cannes lions grand prix, created a scene in which we find children exploring a dull, boring britain until they pierce the clouds above by throwing stones, letting out ray after ray of sunshine. by producing such a bold, filmic, long-length television advert, ITV is also showcasing how powerful the medium of television remains and why brands should use television to communicate their messages.

it's a very upbeat and optimistic 2mins ad. there's something powerful in delivering a message using a child's innocence and adventure. crank up the volume, watch the clip and make your sunday better.

this is so apt on a personal level. a new chapter begins for me tomorrow: i am starting a new job, carving a new path. let's throw our own stones, create our own destinies. i hope a glorious future awaits.

mark ronson x gucci icon-temporary nyc store launch

music producer mark ronson collaborated with gucci on a range of sneakers, which will be sold in flash sneaker stores that will travel the world starting in october 2009.

looking a little glum at the nyc store launch on friday, he wore a gucci fall winter 2009 salt & pepper single breasted suit, paired with a blue and black chess board print shirt. he also wore a pair of the gucci limited edition sneakers.

i'm not overly crazy about that chess board print shirt, but i wished he wore that shirt on the left instead. the salt & pepper slim fit trousers is available from matchesfashion for £370.

mark paired his suit with this pair of sneakers, which is my favourite out of all the designs i've seen.

and talk about retail companies reaching out to their customers via all kinds of social media platforms. the above blue and yellow sneakers is available for purchase only via their iphone application, not in stores nor online. best get my iphone quick then.

the first gucci icon-temporary store debuts on crosby street in new york on october 24, and will remain open for just two weeks. in december, they will move from nyc to miami. it will then move to select cities in europe and asia, including london.

i am liking the leather jacket but will need to feel it up close on the day itself. in a way i am dreading the release on a saturday as there will be lots of people queuing up, but good thing is that we don't need to take time off work to get our fashion fix. will you be queuing up?

goyard trunks outside mount street store

i whizzed past mount street earlier, and the above sight greeted me along the way. i ran across the road to have a better look, and nearly got ran over by a cyclist. well worth the run over, as goyard put out four trunks outside their store. real functioning trunks, not dummies. and as i marveled and drooled all over the floor, i glimpsed that the shop assistant gave me an approving smile, and then carried on with what he was doing.

then i realised, what a great idea that is. it's often intimidating, for the casual shopper and aspirational buyer, to walk into a shop to have a look see. by having the trunks outside, passer-bys can have a feel and closely examine the intricate workmanship. i had a great time examining every inch of the trunks, though thoughts of how to run away with one was constantly echoing in my head.

a fascinating way to engage their audience indeed.

for those around the area, do swing by to have a look see. the trunks are really amazing.

and dear maison goyard: when you are done with the display pieces and looking to dispose them, i'll gladly help. i wouldn't say no to seconds!

ahhh... that poise. british indie rock band kasabian performed at the hmv forum last night as part of a series of gigs to celebrate the run-up to 2009's Q awards. lead singer tom meighan wore a black leather jacket with a military style t-shirt.

here's a closer look at his get-up:

tom wore a black j.lindeberg leather jacket with quilted details on the shoulders, with d&g military tassels style t-shirt on the inside.

besides the nice details on the shoulders, the leather jacket also spots an asymmetric zip, and elasticated cuffs and waistband. very rock & roll and appropriate for his gig. the jacket is available online at asos.com, black here and blue here.

hidden inside tom's leather jacket is this rather questionable t-shirt from d&g. where do i even begin! i'm just glad it remains mostly hidden underneath that jacket. the d&g t-shirt is available online at italian store luisa via roma.

in fact, tom love this leather jacket so much, he wore the blue version back in july when he performed at london's wembley arena. i very much preferred the blue to the black.

and if you think tom looks very different in the 2 pics, he shocked fans when he cut his signature flowing locks in sept. he said he fancied a change and wanted an inglorious basterds look hence the nice neat quiff on first pic.
