chinese actor chen kun last week attended christian dior's hong kong flagship store opening. he was dressed in dior homme fall winter 2010 head to toe, complete with hair that i can only describe as 'organised-chaos'. i like the jacket, with it's nice draping and what appeared to be a double layered look. what i love more, are the lace-up / side-strapped shoes.

and a bit of color would be nice, like how it appeared on the runway in grey:

my favourite 'gossip girl' cast member was spotted in snowy manhattan last thursday, filming scenes for the hit tv series. i'm not normally a fan of parkas, but mr badgley can sell me anything anyday. i thought he looked really good in that coat, and i really did searched high and low to try and identify that parka.

and sometimes things work in a cosmic way. we had lunch at bluebird restaurant in chelsea on sunday, and i walked into 'the shop at bluebird' afterwards. low and behold, that parka was displayed right towards the front of the store (were they stalking badgley like i do? if so i have competition...). parka and stalking aside, it was my first time to 'the shop at bluebird', it's an amazing treasure trove. i can't wait to visit again.

interesting fact: the classic jacket was originally made for alaskan pipeline workers (to protect them from the 40 below temperatures) and is the benchmark by which all other parkas are judged. penn's parka is an exact replica of the 1972 original.

oh although i am style stalking mr badgley from across the atlantic pond, i promise i am not as creepy as that guy behind him. and mister, you're on the wrong side, unless you're taking his...

when i featured the markus lupfer knitwear last week, a few of us identified that the studded sneakers were from gienchi. a reader also commented that one needs to add gienchi on facebook and send a private request for the studded shoes to be made. i thought that was such a long winded way to get a pair of sneakers.

Old Hollywood Numbered Trinket Boxes

saw these being featured on the cut yesterday, and i bought them in a heart beat. it's a set of seven porcelain boxes, love love love the didot typography. thought i'll keep it for my cufflinks, but it'll probably be too small. now it's the question of gifting it to sis-in-law or mom or best friend's birthday. the big questions in life.

Ronnie Wood at South Bank Sky Arts Awards in Mr. Hare

shhh... mr wood is telling us something. at last night's south bank arts awards in london, ronnie wood attended the event in the jazziest of jazz shoes: mr. hare fitzgerald. this is epic, or in hash terms: #mayjah! a member of the rolling stone in one of my all time favourite shoes!

mr wood wore the stunning shoes with patent toe cap and contrasting suede upper. funny how the two of them decided to go matchy matchy with their shoes.

Out and about...

out and about last saturday in my balmain homme teddy jacket, gucci checked shirt, topman trousers, zara suede boots and smelling of helmut lang cuiron.

looking back, i should have done up the fifth button. oh well.

and i bought gloves. purple wool plaid gloves with leather underside from zara. yes i broke my 2011 rule of buying less and buying better, but i lost my gloves and it was freezing cold. and it looked so pretty, and more importantly reduced in the sale to £7.99.

A few words...

i previously wrote a long heartful blogpost about my experience in using burberry's new "click-to-chat" service, which ran during the period of the pre-orders (which ended yesterday). i wrote about the glitch on their website, in which the above coat was incorrectly priced for a few hours, and subsequently corrected. there were a few emails with the customer services team, and they acknowledged the slight system issue. they gave me a call to explain the issue, which i felt was a very personable gesture. there was an error and they wanted to put things right. it is comforting to know that this company with sales exceeding £1 billion annually, still values each and every customers' feedback and response.

the overall experience, from the initial "click" to the final phone call, has been really pleasant. ask me a year ago and i would say that people would still head to brick and mortar stores for their luxury goods purchase as opposed to buying online. there's the personable service in stores in this relationship business, that i felt couldn't be replicated online. and now burberry proofed that with a bit of innovation and effort it can be done. and it makes me happy, as i invested in the right company. ok not talking a majority stake here, but still a few coats worth.

and oh, i bought the coat.

south korean actor hyun bin attended the press conference of his new movie "come rain come shine" in seoul last thursday. the lanky actor wore a really well cut and flattering black suit, and walked on the wild side with the leopard print givenchy shirt from spring summer 2011.

i thought he looked absolutely amazing.

not exactly sure why there were two pens inserted on the suit pocket. i'm hardly adventurous when it comes to prints, but i really like the whole styling. i personally feel that buttoning all the way up is crucial to the look.

on the penultimate day of paris menswear fashion week, my favourite front row guest attended the givenchy fall winter 2011 show in a givenchy suit/coat from fall winter 2010. just when i thought he would be wearing his usual denims and light brown boots, he threw me off with those rather heavy trousers and boots. looking like a ninja on the front row, he again arrived well before other guests.

oh i'm going to miss seeing pics of nakata after fashion week.

givenchy was one of my favourites for fall winter 2011. there were dogs and plaids and well cuit suits and timberlake lookalikes, what's not to love.

Balenciaga menswear Fall Winter 2011

first impression: it wasn't as tear inducing as spring summer 2011, however it didn't exactly set the world on fire. and i say that as a fan who buys their pieces seasons in and out, and i say that with a tinge of sadness. balenciaga womenswear is up there, right at the forefront, something is lacking in the menswear division. and i hate to tear apart what someone did as i appreciate the amount of stress and work involved to put together a collection. just that as a long time fan, waiting every six months only to be slightly let down, is a little disheartening.

second look: i am looking past the styling and questionable choice of models. i am keen on the red suede jacket on top right, light brown hooded jacket (2nd row left), and the coats on 3rd row centre and right.

final thoughts: give me some time and i think i will warm to the pieces. this fan will be heading in stores come july 2011.

fast becoming my favourite style icon, hidetoshi nakata attended yesterday's dior homme fall winter 2011 show in paris, in a khaki colored trench coat from burberry prorsum spring summer 2011, accessorised with an umbrella and rayban sunnies. if it's raining, you wouldn't wear suede shoes. if it's raining you wouldn't be wearing sunnies. verdict: it must be blindingly sunny in paris to warrant all three combination!

jokes/random observations aside: throughout milan and paris fashion week, nakata kept it simple with the same denims and beige suede boots, changing his look with a different coat for each day.

❶ in milan for dsquared2, he wore a light brown dsquared2 spring 2011 trench coat.

➋ in paris for louis vuitton, he wore a sumptuous black cropped leather jacket from burberry prorsum spring 2011.

Balmain Homme Fall Winter 2011

it's all the "b's" that get me excited and collections i look forward to during fashion week: burberry prorsum, balenciaga, balmain. the above look from balmain fall winter 2011 is my favourite look, love the dramatic shearling coat. as balmain menswear progresses, there are more looks introduced for fall 2011. some of the balmain classics remain, like the shearling coats, crested button peacoats and leather bomber jackets. these were all reworked and tweaked. however, i'm not really warming to the styling of most of the looks. despite using what appeared to be luxurious materials, the overall styling is very high street, and it's really disturbing. is this balmain's revenge on zara? i hope balmain will rope in karim sadli to photograph them again for their lookbook as with previous seasons.

i am a little disappointed. but i am convinced it's the styling that i don't agree with. that aside, there are a few pieces which i love: the shearling jackets and the black leather bomber.

hidetoshi nakata, footballer, model and one of my favourite style icons, attended yesterday's louis vuitton menswear fall winter 2011 show in paris. strange that louis vuitton did not dress nor accessorise nakata, but he wore one of my favourite leather jackets from burberry prorsum spring summer 2011.

i couldn't find a full length pic of nakata, but he looked great in that jacket. at 175cm or 5ft 9 (stalker who?), he's not exactly towering so the cropped leather jacket looked proportionate on him. instead i thought it looked a little too short on the runway model.

love nakata's choices. two days ago he also attended the dsquared2 show in milan in their spring 2011 beige trench coat. nakata is not the first person i spotted with this jacket: south korean actor won bin wore the same leather jacket to the pusan international film festival back in october 2010.
