i am taking an educated guess here, i believe hidetoshi nakata [中田英寿] wore a balmain homme fall winter 2011 corduroy jacket in above pic. the japanese footballer/model attended this morning's hotly anticipated balenciaga womenswear show in paris. that pic was taken before news broke on twitterdom, that all the benches broke prior to the show and everyone stood at the show!

back to the jacket: i remembered seeing this jacket at barneys last week when i was in new york. the distressed marks on the lapels and front pocket suggest to me that it's the same piece i saw. very brave of nakata to match his corduroy jacket to a pair of corduroy trousers. the two tone treatment worked for me though, i thought he looked really smart.

Ian Thorpe at #MFW in Giorgio Armani

still going through pics of fashion week, i came across above pic of the great australian swimmer, ian thorpe. the thorpedo attended the giorgio armani show in milan last week, and was dressed head to toe in giorgio armani menswear fall winter 2011.

it is often difficult to dress sportsmen. masculine physique doesn't usually translate well with runway pieces, but i am honestly wowed by mr. thorpe. he looked really good, the clothes fitted well and he modelled the outfit much better than the model. great pairing, and with the thorpedo returning to compete at the london 2012 olympics, could this be a hint that he will soon be joining raphael nadal on the armani underwear campaign?

i'm back from my holidays! still not sure how i managed to book my holidays in the midst of new york, london and milan fashion weeks, but hey ho. going through fashion week pics now, and came across kyle anderson, senior accessories editor at elle magazine, in one of my favourite pieces from fall winter 2011: the braided knit from 3.1 phillip lim. he paired it with those statement prada tri-colored platform brogues from spring summer 2011. not exactly sure about the socks, i would have gone sock-less. what do you think?

i previously featured mr. anderson in a tiger striped print fur vest from dolce & gabbana, this look is much more subdued which i love. the 3.1 phillip lim wool knit with braided detailing is also available online from my-wardrobe.com.

ryan gosling attended the premiere of his new movie "drive" at saturday's toronto international film festival. the actor wore a dark blue donegal wool tweed suit from burberry prorsum pre-fall 2011. i feel this is quite a difficult piece to wear, in pictures the suit looked like it got caught in the rain. and much as i love ryan gosling and burberry prorsum (i honestly do), i don't think it's a good fit. i always feel that burberry prorsum is more suited for the tall lanky types. tara ferry, son of the legendary bryan ferry, looked really good in the same suit in the studio shots above.

hot as ryan is, i think classic cuts rather than runway slim fits suit him better. ryan often wears salvatore ferragamo on the red carpet, which i feel is a very good fit between the parties. and on a side note, i would love to see alexander skarsgard in burberry prorsum for his upcoming film premieres.

matthew wore the "dane" geometric print shorts, which is the longer of orlebar brown's classic shorts. i have the same shorts in "bulldog", which is the mid-length version and those are my absolute favourite beach shorts.

south korean actor so ji-sub [소지섭] attended the press conference of the 16th busan international film festival in seoul yesterday, he wore an outfit from versace fall winter 2011, which featured a textured black leather vest over a classic black suit. the black leather vest is the piece making the look standout, however it doesn't quite impact me like how the runway look did.

i love the leather vest, but would prefer him to be styled, perhaps in a non black suit. the look below would have been perfect for him. loving versace fall winter 2011, can't wait to see what the collaboration with h&m would be like.

(can anyone help?) thank you my readers for helping me with the artiste's name! lee-jong-suk [이종석] wore a rather unusual/interesting cut out sweater from swedish label acne's fall winter 2011 collection at the "high kick 3" press conference in seoul. i love the simple styling with a white shirt underneath, and really loving the choice of footwear too. it could be tacky with such risqué knitwear, but he pulled off the look really well.

fashion week starts again, and besides checking out what's presented on the runway, i'm also excited to see what the front row editors/guests would be wearing to the shows. kyle anderson, senior accessories editor at elle magazine, was pictured at new york fashion week in a fur vest with a tuxedo collar from dolce & gabbana fall winter 2011, matched with those statement studded shoes from prada a few seasons back. if kanye west can wear celine, why can't kyle wear dolce & gabbana?

Trunk Clothiers, Chiltern Street

on monday evening i dropped by chiltern street to have a look at the new cire trudon store (still work in progress). then we popped into trunk clothiers to have a little nose around. i love the store, it's like a little treasure chest full of surprises. off the usual beaten track, trunk stocks a very good selection of menswear and accessories. we were in a hurry, but i'll definitely go back another day to try on some of their stuff.

jared leto was pictured in malibu yesterday with a rather eclectic get up. he wore a gorgeous leather jacket from burberry prorsum spring summer 2011, but paired it with questionable pinstripe business trousers, hat that is a little too big, and terrible shoes. i really love the shade of petroleum blue on the leather jacket, just a little disappointed at how everything was put together.

to be honest, i love the jacket but ain't too hot on the styling from the runway too. any thoughts?

New style: Marc Hare x Topman AAA Collection patent leather pony hair dress shoe

this i've not seen before, or it wasn't released online on the first day of sale. a new style from the marc hare for topman AAA collection, the patent leather dress shoe featured a pony hair front with a mock croc strip. it's by far my favourite from this collection. priced at £90, it's also a snip from the usual prices you see on mr. hare's shoes. the dress shoe is also available online here.

browsing through this week's es magazine, i came across designer/man-about-town mr. henry holland in a beautiful embroided shirt from christopher shannon's fall winter 2011 collection. i really like the shirt, unusual and a definite stand out piece. said it a few times, but mr. holland buttoning the shirt up all the way makes a lot of difference.
