i am back from the cold cold shores of reykjavik. taken a few pictures, will hopefully share on here shortly. meanwhile going through my inbox, i saw the above picture of designer marlon gobel wearing a suit from his own collection at the GMHC fashion forward event in new york last week. i ramble on and on about the christian louboutin x marlon gobel shoes, but finally found pictures of him wearing his own collections. the plaid suit appeared to be painted over, not an easy look to pull off but he seems to be having fun. i thought he looked great, and of course wished he wore louboutin shoes like the runway model.

and of course he did. marlon gobel attended the christian louboutin 20th anniversary book party at barneys new york a few weeks back, and was dressed in a gorgeous green blazer with beautiful forest prints from his fall winter 2011 collection. the cherry on the cake for me, was the matching of the green corduroy trousers with the stunning gold spiked shoes. pure class.

Away...

heading to iceland this evening for a short vacation, going to swim in the blue lagoon and hopefully catch some northern lights. finally got the chance to wear my paul smith shearling lined boots with vibram rubber soles, which i think will be perfect for this trip. the closest thing to ugg boots for men!

Cire Trudon "Ernesto"

as winter draws near, i began lighting my candles again. after being introduced to cire trudon's "ernesto", i could not imagine my room smelling any different. glad to see the candles, which make perfect christmas gifts, being added to the virtual shelves of mr porter this week.

i really fancy a date with this mr porter.

夏石鎮 (하석진 Ha Suk Jin) in South Korea in Junya Watanabe

it's like waiting for a bus and two comes at the same time. following on this morning's fair isle loveliness from new york based designer prabal gurung wearing junya watanabe, south korean artiste ha suk jin was also recently pictured in a junya watanabe fall winter 2011 tweed jacket. the actor was at the press conference for his latest work "if tomorrow ever comes". what a great departure this is, as if junya watanabe wanted to take us to the countryside for some clay pigeon shooting after the fair isle christmassy celebrations.

i feel it's a difficult jacket to wear. the tweed and leather patches made it rather "old man". however i really really like ha suk jin's two tone brogues. great shoes always save the day. a selection of junya watanabe fall winter 2011 is also available online from mr porter.

lady gaga launched her "gaga's workshop" at barneys new york on monday night. designer prabal gurung was pictured at the event in a junya watanabe fall winter 2011 fair isle varsity jacket. the nepalese designer is a hot favourite to go to for many starlets attending red carpet events, so it's interesting to see how he look off-duty. the fair isle jacket is easily one of my favourite pieces this season. i love varsity jackets, i think the style is evergreen. the fair isle body added a little festive flavour and the leather sleeves gave it a stylish edge. i really really like it.

John Lobb Spring Summer 2012

i just want to put it out there, for the record, that i am willing to do anything, anything, for the above insanely gorgeous john lobb shoes. hand made in northampton, quality shoes really do speak for themselves.

i really love these cognac colored lace-ups. those curves surrounding the laces give the shoes a modern update. close second favourite.

deep rich colors seem to run through john lobb's spring summer 2012 collection. i love these dark mossy green lace ups. i think i should use up my entire spring summer 2012 clothing budget just on these three pairs of shoes.

it will be a special and significant day when i am treading on john lobb shoes.

Missoni / Hentsch Man Spring Summer 2012

while rummaging through the rails of spring summer 2012 goodies, i came across this jacket from missoni. the exterior is made from khaki colored nylon, and the interior featured their wool/cotton zig-zag knit. practical, luxurious yet stylish all at the same time. this ranks very high on my wishlist.

Christopher Kane Menswear Spring Summer 2012

i dropped by the showrooms last week to have a look at the upcoming spring summer 2012 collections. it's always exciting to check out christopher kane menswear, a collection that is slowing evolving. i really love the spring 2011 cosmic constellation prints, however that softness and magical feel turned into something really hard and mechanical for spring summer 2012. t-shirts featured what appeared to be machines and engine parts, a rather interesting departure from his previous collections.

i like the zipped up hoody...

... with little details like the branded toggles.

favourite piece has to be this bluish grey leather jacket. continuing with the hard mechanical theme, the jacket was toughen up using stiff calf leather. really nice piece, i hope to see someone performing on stage with this.

Andrew Garfield in New York in Rag & Bone

spider-man andrew garfield was pictured on the upper west side of new york city last friday, reshooting scenes for "the amazing spider-man". andrew wore a rag & bone varsity bomber jacket, which suited him really well. the whole preppy feel really worked for him. the leather sleeves added a stylish touch to an otherwise ordinary varsity bomber. so glad the "rb" logo did not feature in the retail versions.

at £540, the leather sleeved wool bodied varsity bomber jacket is one of the best i've seen. the jacket is also available online from mr porter.

hong kong artiste edmond leung [梁汉文] attended an awards ceremony in hong kong over the weekend. he was pictured in a burberry prorsum fall winter 2011 "sponge hand double wool car coat", along with the chunky soled shoes from the same collection. i have no idea what "sponge hand" means, but i do like the way it's presented on the runway. the regal military feel matched with the mink fur cap reminded me of the guards outside buckingham palace. i don't like edmond's choice of trousers, it cheapens the whole look.

timberlake and fassbender both in december editions of british esquire and american GQ, both in fitted blue shirts with rolled up sleeves, blue ties, belt-less and watches on the left wrist. i love timberlake's poise but fassbender's enigmatic blue eyes.

versace for H&M leather studded jacket, gucci checked shirt, balenciaga stone washed trousers, converse sneakers, smelling of helmut lang eau de cologne and feeling too much bling.

My haul from #VersaceForHM collection

no we did not queue up at selfridges, but i thought that was a very nice signage. theverysimong, steviebstyle and myself woke up bright and early yesterday morning to queue up outside the h&m store at brompton road, knightsbridge london. it proved to be a good strategic decision, as there were about 80 people ahead of us, and we arrived an hour before the shop opened. i felt the event could have been better planned by h&m as it was mayhem once we were in stores. i don't want to be overly negative, as i did manage to get the pieces i went for.

here's what i got:

the only piece i really wanted from the collection was the studded leather jacket, and i literally had to dive in to grab one in my size. maybe i wanted it so much and harboured great expectations, i was a little underwhelmed by it. the zips were not round as per stock photos (which i love), and i wasn't totally wowed by it. but i bought it anyway!

i found this leather sleeved and collared wool coat, which did not appear in their lookbook or preview shots. it fitted really well and i reckoned i could get a lot of wear out of it. an unexpected buy, but loving it.

besides the crocodile print t-shirt, i also picked up the above wool and cashmere sweater. it looked great in real life, but i didn't like it on me when i tried it at home. so i am bringing this back to the stores. i rarely return stuff, but madness and chaos do not help me think straight.

well returning the sweater would help to relief some of the financial pain! truly madness, but alleviated by the fantastic company from simon and stevie.

it is always exciting to hear about j.lindeberg's biannual book, "the documentary and a dream". besides pictures of their latest collections, the book also features talented and passionate individuals who have taken to new corners of the world, bringing new insights and inspiration from their vast and adventurous travels. loving the black and white shots, especially that of the very dapper patrick grant from norton & sons / etautz.
